Through my internet travels I just discovered the studio of Oliver Gustav in Copenhagen. To die for! I am especially loving his curated mix of art, design, furniture and lighting. He clearly has a very honed eye. I’m particularly in love with the last 2 images…very much my colours…very much wanting to redecorate the apartment now…
Sorry for the radio silence folks…we had a wonderful launch party for the magazine a few weeks back and then I flew down to Melbourne to catch up with friends and family and to get some much needed R&R.
I’m still getting through the glut that is my inbox, but in the meantime I thought I’d share some pics that I found of the newly renovated Hôtel Vernet in Paris by one of my favorite French designers, François Champsaur. Love it.

Good morning! Or at least I wish it was…its bucketing down here. It seems Hong Kong has seen fit to go straight from winter to rainy season. No fun. I have been slightly cheered by these gorgeous images by Richard Powers via Yatzer of The Jane Restaurant in Antwerp, by Piet Boon. LOVE.

This month’s Belle magazine was a total treat. I especially loved the feature on the LA home by designer Daniel Cuevas. So nice to see more work from such a talented designer. I wrote about a project he worked on with designer Carol Katleman in London a while back here.
I particularly loved this library….I dream about having a space like this one day…
I feel head over heels for this Rhode Island home renovated by designer Juniper Tedhams, featured in the latest House Beautiful. I really love the combination of the classic bones of the house – and while I’m not normally one for white walls, I think they really work here – with the mix of early 20th Century furnishings and the semi-industrial elements.
The cabinet on the right of the first image looks suspicioulsy like a Jean-Michel Frank design..and if its an original I’m totally jealous. Otherwise, it looks great in this room.
Also loving the long low look of the living room…the corner bookshelf is genius.
And the brass fixtures in the bathroom….to die for!
Its been so damn cold and dreary in Hong Kong lately…I almost feel like I’m living in London (minus the architecture or culture). Today though, we finally have blue skies above.
Speaking of London, and blue, I am very happy to be able to share with you some pics of a recently completed project by the talented team at London-based Central Design Studio. ‘Waterfront Kitchen’ is a casual dining space in The Hilton Vienna, on the banks of the Danube.
The palette consists of limed oak, blackened steel, riven slate which is accented with a rich cobalt blue. All the furniture was designed and custom made for the space, including the coloured glass fixtures by Isabel Hamm.
The team worked hand in hand with graphic designer Jon Powell to create all the branded material for the restaurant, ensuring that the restaurant has a consistent feel throughout. A very important part of designing restaurants, for sure.
Well, I for one don’t mind being transported here for the afternoon – even if it is just via photos. Enjoy!
One of my favorite designers, Mark Cunningham, has updated his website. Not only are there stunning extra photos of the projects I had seen, but there are also photos of projects I love but didn’t realise he was responsible for. What a treat. Here are a few of my favorites….
I’m very excited about this…the new Lane Crawford home store at 4/F IFC. And a new restaurant – “Glass House” opening this weekend. I’ll be there for sure.

I am so excited to be able to finally share some news and an update on some of the work I’ve been doing!
The Pottinger, which is opening very soon, is a luxurious 68-room hotel situated in the heart of central – on the corner of Queen’s Road and Pottinger Street – the first pebbled stepped street in the city, which was named after Sir Henry Pottinger, Hong Kong’s very first Governor.
The design of the hotel is all about celebrating Hong Kong’s heritage, and I’m very proud to have been associated with this wonderful project.

Bo Concept, the celebrated Danish design retailer opened its doors in Hong Kong officially yesterday. Situated on busy Wyndham Street, in an airy two storey space, Bo Concept brings a selection of much needed well priced furnishings to Hong Kong. They have a range of timeless Scandinavian designs that also cleverly cater to space challenged apartments. Perfect for this city!
These were a few of my faves….
The Granada extendable dining table. Extendable tables are a great option for small spaces, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a round extendable table before, certainly not one with such a smooth mechanism. Its easily done by one person.
So next time you are wandering down Wyndham Street heading out for a drink, duck into Bo Concept. Its definitely worth a look.
I am so excited for this. Finally…a monograph on the work of the late, great David Collins. For one of the greatest designers of our time, this is a nice way to honor his memory.
