“Traditional architecture for the modern world” is the motto of Architectural and Interior Design firm, Fairfax & Sammons. Anne Fairfax and Richard Sammons are a husband and wife team, based in New York, who have created some wonderful homes around the world. They have a talent for creating traditional-modern interiors inside classical architecture. These are just a few of my picks from their portfolio..

Yes that herringbone floor is incredible! I am doing a lot of herringbone floors in my home in Marrakech but they are made out of bejmat handmade tile – creamy and neutral. But I love the graphic punch of these.
I saw they had a book out Jhayne, I must put that on my wishlist!
yes, fairfax & sammons is an amazing firm. . .did you you that they draw EVERYTHING by hand? they do have a book (american houses: the architecture of fairfax & sammons), if you’re interested in seeing more.
Very nice! I will have to watch out for them and check out the site!
Me too Patricia, they’re divine aren’t they!
I love the coffered ceiling, bay window and chocolate brown wall in the 4th picture. And also the herringbone floor in the entry with the barrel vault ceiling!
HC – it was a great interview on NYSD, their home is so sweet. They’ve got a great talent for mixing styles and eras. Glad you liked.
Hi Vanessche – thanks for visiting my blog and glad you liked this post! They’re a very talented couple.
Hi Sarah – I know, it is interesting…don’t know if I could do that…but then my husband is not an architect…
Thanks POC – glad you liked the images, there are so many on their website that are amazing, it was hard to choose!
Thanks David – and thanks for visiting my blog!
RNVL – glad you like – those floors are stunning aren’t they!
I remember seeing them on NYSD too but your post does them better justice. I love their interiors and their mix of styles!

What beautiful rooms! Thank you for introducing me to these designers. Husband and wife designers… that is an interesting concept! It seems to work very well in their case.
I remember the interview on NYSD, but I should have checked out their website. These photos are gorgeous! (I also like your image of the week too!)
Pretty pictures and very good text.
Thanks and have good day
Really beautiful work–I’m crazy about the herringbone flooring in the entryway.
