A big thanks to Habitually Chic for posting photos of the much awaited Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse in NY – there are so many gorgeous rooms, I wish I could have been there to see them in person. There were a lot of familar names, including the Aussie newcomers to NY – Burley Katon Halliday, although a new one for me was S. Russell Groves. I checked out the rest of his portfolio last night and was so impressed. I’ve recently been loving interiors with lots of timber and a bit of a mid-century vibe, so these are really appealing to me right now. Hope you enjoy as much as I did!
A retail project, however I could easily live with this as a living room setting. It even makes the ubiquitous Barcelona stool look super chic all over again. (I’m really hoping my Robsjohn-Gibbings slipper chair will look that nice once it’s been recovered!)
A somewhat industrial looking bathroom, but I like it!
really lovely & soothing.
Hi Suzy,
Thank you so much for getting back to me. I love your blog… i check it everyday.
I’m based in NY and I recently moved, so your blog has been a strong inspiration.
Im on a search for dinning chairs and Im looking for slim dark wood/ rosewood kinds and I’m not finding it anywhere… so if you have any other options, please let me know.
thanks again
Marina
Hi Marina – they look vintage to me. Here are a couple of links to chairs that are similar…although I don’t know your budget or location – check these out!

do you know where I can find similar ones?
thank you
Ha, no problem Mrs B, and who knows!
Paola – I’ve already drooled over everything on his website – I just thought it might be a bit much to post them all – even though I could have!
S. Russell Groves is such an incredibly famous architect & interior designer, legendary status, I’m surprised he’s a new one for you! Regardless, he is a talent through & through, you should check out his retail projects, they are to die for!
Suzy – I checked back on my comment here because I thought it might have been a little snarky. Then, I noticed the designer’s name again – the very same one that my NY friend told me to look up. You have probably hit on the next big thing!
Thanks Felicity!
Just imagine – I agree, I think I’d need a little of something in there…
Franki – yes, I bought it a few months ago – but its in a state of disrepair at the moment…so its not post worthy yet!
hold the phone… you’ve got a Robsjohn-Gibbings slipper chair??? brava, darling. brava!
yes… I would LOVE to live in this space. it fits my style perfectly.
oh yum, I could live here !!! I probably couldn’t help myself though – throwing in small spashes of colour somewhere.
Very elegant and I must say Suzie – very you 🙂
Mrs Blandings, you and I must be on the same wavelength, because I thought exactly the same thing!
Suzy – that taupy-yellow living room is almost a twin of the last Gambrel house in Elle Decor. It’s a little SWF-esque.
I’m not a “mid-century” fan, but I have to agree that the simplicity of these designs is very appealing.
